Fair enough, and thanks for laying out the reasoning clearly. It’s helpful to know it’s a principled position tied to how the contracts and budget are structured, rather than something arbitrary.
That said, I feel this thread has produced a number of good outcomes — coliving as the default, focusing more on privacy for accommodations and finetuning the location search, receipt photos and Splitwise adjustments, normalizing cooking at home, using Flightfox for booking concerns, and documenting attendance exemptions. That’s a good list of improvements for next year.

For concrete follow up tasks, it sounds like the main thing is a task to write a document for the handbook or internal docs for the notes things we want to prioritise and keep in mind for future trips (around flight booking, cooking food, splitting bills, accommodation, exceptions for attendance, etc.). I’ll create a ticket and link it here to close the loop.
