Coworking Week 2026 - Da Nang, Vietnam

Works for me :+1:

@gabriel Thanks! Are you creating the epic or would you like me to?

@jordan here’s an epic : Log in - OpenCraft

You can create your discovery ticket there, and share it here for people to log their time. I’ll complete the epic description and schedule necessary tasks in the coming days and weeks! I’m happy to review the discovery as well.

Hi all,

We’re happy to announce that following Jordan’s discovery work, the 2026 OpenCraft Coworking Week will take place in Da Nang, central Vietnam, from May 23 to May 29, 2026.

From the discovery :

Danang is a vibrant city, has great beaches, the food is inexpensive, it’s close to cultural excursions and sights, and any accommodation could be within 15 minutes of Danang International Airport. Danang has the most favourable weather in May which is warm to hot, quite sunny, with occasional rain showers or short rainy days. It’s not yet peak rainy season. Humidity is a factor but not as bad as other areas.

I’ve been to Da Nang recently, and quite enjoyed it ! :palm_tree:

We’re currently searching for a coliving/coworking space, but options seem quite scarce. Depending on our research results, we’ll either settle for a coliving/coworking combo or find a coworking space and book Airbnbs.

I will also soon poll the team regarding partners and children who might be attending, and I will prepare a travel guide.

Hi all,

Please indicate whether you’ll be joined by your partner and/or children at the 2026 coworking week:

  • I will be alone
  • My partner will accompany me
  • My partner and child(ren) will accompany me

Thank you!

I recently found out that there will be a funeral on May 23 that I will be attending in BC, so depending on flights my partner and I will not be able to make the first couple of days .

I wasn’t able to find a suitable coliving space in Da Nang, but I’m currently discussing with two nice coworking space options located not too far from the beach. There’s no shortage of wonderful Airbnbs in that neighborhood as well. I’ve shortlisted some great listings—please check the list, review the options, and write down your name to secure a spot for yourself (and anyone traveling with you).

If you think I missed a great spot on the beach side of town, let me know!

Thank you, @cassie, for finding us a gorgeous 15-room villa with a pool! Most of the team will be co-living after all :house_with_garden:

I appreciate you taking the suggestion! A lucky find.

Hi everyone,

@jordan added a comment on Jira that other team members might want to weigh in on:

Cassie and I were looking at flights to Danang from the conference (or from anywhere for the matter), and we noticed something that could be problematic for the team. Because of the conflicts in the Middle East, many flights are currently being rerouted, and most travel paths seem to be affected.

As of right now at least, the travel lengths and stops increased significantly, and the ones with shorter durations are double the price. I’m not sure if/when this will change.

Of course we can’t predict the future, but if the conflict continues, it may impact a lot of the team’s travel. We’re wondering if there should be a contingency?

The only thought we had is that the coworking trip could potentially be delayed to later in the summer? Since a smaller number of team members are attending the conference, in theory they don’t have to be one after the other.

I don’t want to throw a wrench into the planning, but I thought I’d mention it since it could be an issue. It’s may be difficult to plan around.

I said the following in response:

I actually think doing it later could be a great idea, Jordan. It gives things a bit of time to settle down travel-wise.

Of course, like you said, we can’t predict what will happen, but if the situation continues it could affect travel for quite a few people on the team, so good idea in flagging this now. Since Vietnam and Salt Lake are also pretty far apart, it seems reasonable to me that the conference and cowork week aren’t back-to-back.

Spacing them out might also make the travel a bit easier for people who would otherwise be flying long distances to the US and then straight on to Vietnam, and reduce some of the stress for anyone feeling uncertain about travel in the region right now.

I also saw this this morning…

@cassie There is still some time until the trip, and we are not going anywhere close to the conflict zone. In the worst case airlines will re-route - especially coming from the US, there is the option of flights going over the pacific. So I don’t think we should move the date, at least without knowing much of how the next months will be - it will be disruptive to existing plans and schedules everyone might have made, and we don’t have a guarantee that it will be better 1-2 months later.

Btw I booked my flights last week, as it was part of a multi-hop trip, and the flights I’m taking from the US to Vietnam aren’t too bad:

Hey Xavier, @jordan and I were mainly raising the question of whether it might be worth having a contingency in mind for planning purposes. Since the trip is coming up fairly soon and people will start booking flights in the next few weeks, it just felt worth flagging now in case travel logistics or costs to the company end up being affected.

@cassie Having a contingency plan sounds good :+1: It’s probably worth monitoring, and while I would keep booking now, it can be worth for example mentioning in the booking tasks that if there are no reasonable options, to bring it up? In some cases it might be worth waiting for the airlines to reroute their flights to get more seats - but if there are good options now I would go for them. If the flights get cancelled we should get a chance to be refunded or rebook.

But imho since the war is really far from where we go, I would be surprised if we had to cancel or postpone because of it. I could be wrong though

Good thinking — but yeah, we unfortunately have no way of knowing if postponing would be of any use, in terms of convenience or cost saving.

What hurts is that most of us can’t plan ahead and need to wait until April to book our flights, since we won’t know whose talks are selected for the conference. Hopefully the prices won’t have risen too much, nor the routes been too disrupted by the Middle East conflict.

On the bright side, we saved quite a bit on the accommodation if some flights do end up costing a bit more :+1:

Following our discussion about my struggle with finding a coworking space in Da Nang, here’s a positive update.

  • The owner of the bigger Airbnb (where 15 of us will be living) has confirmed that the common areas (downstairs koi pond + rooftop pool) have plenty of space and seating for people to work. The two Airbnbs that we’ve rented are close to one another, btw.
  • I’ve discussed with the owner of a coworking space, and they confirmed that the area has many cafes where people can easily work from. I’ve started building a list which I’ll be sharing in my Vietnam guide.

I therefore consider the issue to be resolved. Please let me know if you have any concerns or further suggestions. Thank you @antoviaque and @braden for your input!
