Coworking Week 2026 - Location - Poll to pick favorites

Based on the locations that have been nominated for the coworking week, I have created a ranked poll for sorting the locations by the team’s preference. You can go vote there until December 7th, using your name & @opencraft.com email:

Rank the locations according to your own preferences. Make sure to rank the whole list, not just your favorite/top entries, as it could still help decide between locations, even if your favorite ones aren’t selected.

Note that some destinations overlap (eg Asia & Vietnam), but this shouldn’t be an issue, and allows to express preferences like “I’d rather to go anywhere in Asia than to Canada”, etc.

The results will show up there: RankedVote

In two weeks, we will look at the 4-5 favorite locations for the team, give a chance for anyone to object to some of those locations (for politics, visas, etc.), and take into account the costs. If there is a clear consensus at that time we’ll go for that, otherwise I’ll make the decision then.

How do you tell how many people have voted so far?

I was also wondering about that. I’ve been trying to figure out how the rounds work, but the FAQs at the bottom of the page are confusing. :face_with_spiral_eyes:

I don’t think that information is on the result page, but the number is available in the admin. There have been 18 votes so far:

  • Gabriel
  • Xavier
  • Fox
  • Romulo
  • Pooja

Round 1 is the first option for everyone, so if you add them up, you get the total number of votes.

Actually, the total number of votes represents the sum of votes for every round.

Reminder to vote before the end of this week, as the poll is closing this week-end!

Currently the shortlisted locations are, by order of preference:

  1. Vietnam
  2. Finland
  3. South Korea

It’s not too late to influence this

I wish we could see the ordering of preference in the results, as I think it just gives an unordered set of winners currently; so I have changed the number of winners to 1, then 2, then 3, and the three above were picked, in that order. Going beyond 3 winners, the list changes, which I’m unsure why.

Not only is it not too late, but pretty much any one or two people voting at this point could probably change the outcome pretty significantly (that is, those top three might not even remain the top three) if none of them suit your fancy, since there are so many options vs voters. Your vote really counts here!

I love Finland, but it’s an expensive location, especially when your meals are not paid for. Like, an order of magnitude more expensive than Vietnam

And that’s the final result!

Any objections to the above destinations? If so, please say so asap, and in any case within two weeks (by Dec 21st) - afterwards we will consider silence as consent.

And we can start with a discovery with the overall favorite location, Vietnam. @cassie @jordan @gabriel You were the ones nominating Vietnam, would one of you be willing to take on the discovery, and then the coworking week epic if the discovery confirms Vietnam? Anyone else? Either as owner or reviewer.

My family and I went to Vietnam a few years back and had a pretty good experience with a local travel agent. If it’s helpful, I can share the contact details with whoever picks up this epic.

Whoop! This is exciting! :mount_fuji: :ocean::palm_tree:

I’m on leave from next week Tuesday, and my week is pretty packed. @jordan @gabriel how does your sprint look? I’m happy to be a reviewer, and help in any other way I can before I go off.

Just a reminder that the full process was outlined by Ali here :dancer:

Cool!!! My only objection would be to Finland, not because I don’t want to go there, but because Schengen visas can be a real hassle.

This is awesome!

What I do know from some initial research is the northern, central and southern region Vietman climates differ. So we’ll need to determine the best region to visit in May. If I recall correctly, I think that’s central Vietnam.

@cassie I’m happy to do it, but @gabriel may be interested since he’s already in Vietnam. I’m sure you’ll have some useful feedback to share. If you’d like me to take it, I can make you a reviewer.

This is true @jordan! I forgot he was in Vietnam and could be a wealth of knowledge :) Score!

@jordan I’m on a reduced schedule until the holidays which would make it difficult for me to take the epic, but I’d be more than happy to act as the epic reviewer and help the best I can! If that works for you, I’ll work alongside you and provide as much info and help as I can.

OR if this can wait for a few weeks, then I can take the epic lead.

@gabriel Right now we just need the initial discovery, to validate the destination as viable (ie no objection from team members for political/visa/etc reasons, rough idea of the costs), to be able to take the final decision on whether we go there, or try one of the other destinations. This could be done by the person that would later be the epic reviewer, and the proper full discovery (establishing budget, going through the planning todo list, etc.) could be done by the actual epic owner in January.

The only thing is that, given that the holidays are coming in fast, this would need to happen over the next 2-weeks sprint, starting today. So @jordan if you are able to take that, then @gabriel @cassie and me can be reviewers on it?

@antoviaque No problem I can do that over the next two weeks and have you, @cassie and @gabriel review, thanks!

Gotcha! In that case, I can take ownership of the epic if you like, @jordan. But if you wanna take lead on this, up to you!

@gabriel I think I’d be more comfortable if you took ownership because of your experience, but I am working on the Discovery already and will have it completed this week.
