This week I’ve provided my 30 day notice. Though I’ve not worked closely with many of you, it was clear from the beginning what a unique group this is. It’s been a delight to spend time with many of you, in Cambridge, in Bogota and in South Africa. I’ve especially valued working on all things sales and marketing with Gabriel (loved his OpenCraft insights and history, Hungarian bio wine, not so much), Fox the polymath (and ever-present Hunter and now Evelyn!), Xavier (what a leader should be), Tim (dedication personified), Cassie (super designer) and the multi-talented Ali. We began with some “sales training” in 2021 (it’s really about how we better help our clients) and I got to work with Fox and Gabriel on bizdev processes and recently with Cassie and Ali on their super website update (e.g. case studies, etc.). I hope you know that you’re part of a team that I’ve rarely, if ever seen in my decades in the business and technology fields. I feel honored for having been part of it.
Doug, it has been an honor and a hoot to work alongside you. I’ll miss your insights, our conversations, and the pub crawls during the coworking week. Godspeed.
@DouglasDraper While I didn’t get to work with you regularly, whatever time I was able to share with you during the co-working week is a big memory and I am grateful for it. All the best and I really hope we meet again.
It truly was an honor to get to know you. I have thoroughly enjoyed all the conversations that we had in Lisbon, Bogota and in South Africa.
Your ability to instantly connect with anyone, get them to open up to you and your geniune interest in what others have to say, has always amazed me. And I must admit, I have been a little jealous of the fact that it seems there isn’t anywhere in the world you haven’t been to.
Goodluck and we will miss you.
@DouglasDraper You’re one of those rare people everyone genuinely looks forward to spending time with. I completely second @kaustav’s comment — you have an incredible gift for connecting with people. You’ll be so missed. Really hope we get the chance to catch up in Menorca one day!
@DouglasDraper You will be sorely missed! I will happily repeat what I was telling you – I am very thankful for how much you have advanced OpenCraft’s culture towards business development and marketing. We still have some work to do to become good at it, but it feels like we are now on good rails and heading towards the right direction - and that is largely thanks to you!
So I hope we will get a chance and the budget in the future to hire you back, and do some more training, or develop further OpenCraft’s sales culture.
@DouglasDraper So sorry to hear that you’re leaving! Conferences and coworking weeks won’t be the same without you </3 I’m really glad we got to connect in person during your time here, and I wish you nothing but the best for what’s to come!
Ahh… it’s so hard to see you go, Dough. I have had so many deep and meaningful conversations with you. I will miss the time we had in Bogota. Being your flatmate was such a pleasure. I enjoy our conversation so much that I always look forward to talking to you. Thank you for being so kind and so full of love. I wish you nothing but the best and wish to meet you soon.
@DouglasDraper I know I’ve already said this to you… but I’m so so sad to see you go. It’s been so fun to work with you, learn from you, and travel with you. I’ll particularly miss your insights and wonderful stories. Conferences and coworking weeks won’t be the same.
Please keep in touch
@DouglasDraper It’s been a pleasure interacting with you in Bogota and South Africa. I’m glad I got to meet you!
