Open edX Conference 2025 & Coworking Week

I’ve added everyone to Flouzo (OpenCraft)'s Uber account. You should receive an invitation email. Once accepted, you will be able to order an Uber and pay for it using OpenCraft’s credit card. This can be used for travelling to/from the airport and train station, for regular transport during the conference (we’ll arrange for pool transport, as for this we have a €50 budget limit per person per week), and emergencies.

I remember that some of us had trouble using OpenCraft’s Uber payment account when visiting other countries in the past—particularly our Indian colleagues IIRC. Please check in advance if it works (perhaps try hailing a ride and then canceling?).

Let me know if you need any help!

I’m glad to announce that Fox and Jordan will be joining us for both the coworking week and the conference!

However, this means we are now somewhat short on accommodations for the coworking week, as we have 20 people for 18 rooms at Château Coliving. There are a few rooms (by the way, here’s a floor plan) with two beds. Compromises will likely need to be made. The question is: who is comfortable sharing their room with a second person? IIRC, camping in the yard is also an option.

edit. Also, aside from Braden, who in the team (or partners) is taller than 1.9m ? Some rooms have beds without footboards (for very tall people).

@gabriel I’m happy to put a tent out in the garden on my side - it should hopefully be nice out!

@gabriel in the end my partner will join me after the conference so that’s one less person.

You don’t often see a CEO volunteering to sleep in a tent while the rest of the team literally sleeps in a castle :stuck_out_tongue: Thank you for offering!

Any other volunteers?

This is so sweet of you @antoviaque :heart:

I would still like my own room with my partner, sorry…

This is so inspirational, can’t agree more with @gabriel on this :heart:

I wouldn’t be able to, I am sorry :see_no_evil:

Ahah, you say that now, when you will see the garden I think you will be jealous :stuck_out_tongue:

Thanks for this @antoviaque ! :raised_hands::raised_hands:

I would also like my own room with my partner, I am sorry.

Thank you for your replies. I think it might be more efficient for me to go ahead and directly ping team members who aren’t bringing partners.

Assuming that we’d assign you the most comfortable / spacious 2-bed bedroom, is any of you open to sharing a room? I’m not pressuring anyone – “no” is an acceptable answer, although someone else might end up camping in the backyard ; )

I am going to be coming in alone. So, I could technically sleep anywhere :slight_smile:

And yes including a tent.

@gabriel
I’m okay with sharing a room or staying in the tent.

Although, I’m used to much warmer temperatures than are expected there, and I’m not sure what kind I tent setup it’d be. I haven’t done this since over thirty years, so I’d need some guidance on that. Still, it could be an exciting adventure :slight_smile: I’d be up for it.

I’m not hard against sharing, but if given a choice, would prefer to not have to share a room.

I’m in the same boat here.

I could hop off in Caen and grab a car from there. Given that we don’t have many volunteers, I suppose a van with 8-9 seats would be the best choice.

Nice! This is a great idea, and thanks for volunteering @Agrendalath! :slight_smile:

I’ve looked on Turo, and there’s a few options in Caen, such as this one. If you confirm, I’ll go ahead and secure the reservation (it’s refundable if anything changes). We can discuss the finer details (schedule, etc.) on your transportation booking ticket.

Regarding where you’ll be sleeping, I’ll make sure everyone I’ve pinged has responded, and we can decide. Thanks for offering!

Friendly reminder to please respond to my question above, thanks ! :bed:

I would have volunteered to drive but the driving position and lane are both opposite for us in India and I don’t think it will be easy to adjust. Also, not really sure about validity of Indian license there.

I don’t mind sharing rooms. Only caveat is that I snore when tired.

Also I can volunteer to drive but I would have to get an international license, so if no one from Europe can, I can do it.
