@gabriel I would also prefer not to if it’s possible, thanks.
I would prefer not to share rooms.
As for camping, I don’t have any camping gear or any camping experience. But if we can rent a tent and other camping equipment locally, I would be willing to sleep in a tent.
As for renting a car, I think it is a great idea and would love to help out with driving too. But I will have to look into the validity of my driving license there and how to get an international driving permit.
Looking for Booth Duty Volunteers
Hi everyone . OpenCraft will have a booth at the conference this year! @jordan and @Fox will be there part of the time, but we’re looking for a few extra hands to help staff the booth. If you’re attending and interested in helping out, please let me know.
I’m happy to help staff our booth
Me too
Sounds fun :) I can help out here
I’m about to book train tickets for everyone traveling from Normandy to Palaiseau on June 30th to simplify logistics and ensure that everyone is on the same train. Aside from Jill, Tim, and Piotr, is there anyone who does not want me to book them a train ticket because they are using another means of transportation? You only need to reply if you don’t want me to book your ticket from Normandy to Palaiseau in the coming days.
My plan is to book tickets early next week for you and your partner, and we will charge your partner’s ticket to your next invoice. For those who are uncertain about obtaining their visa, I can book a refundable ticket.
I’m also looking at booking a bus in Palaiseau to take everyone to the hotel upon arrival.
Please let me know if you have any questions or comments!

This sounds good! Thank you @gabriel. That will help.
Murray (my partner) is leaving Normandy on the Sunday, so no need to buy for him. We’ll need to organise his transport ourselves
@gabriel I’ll need a train ticket, please, since my partner won’t be coming to Paris with me and I won’t have a car for the conference week.
@gabriel I still haven’t got a slot for my visa so a refundable ticket would be needed for me and my partner.
@gabriel My partner is leaving on Saturday, so we have already bought her ticket.
@gabriel, I’ll probably need a train ticket too (from Caen), as I will leave the car there (we won’t need it during the conference week).
@gabriel Are you still looking for volunteers for this? It’s proving difficult to figure out how to travel France with surfboards, and expensive to store them somewhere . I’m starting to think that renting a car in Paris and driving it to the Chateau (and back at the end of the week) might be the most practical option.
This is a pretty cool feature of Turo:
Can other people drive a car that I booked?
Yes, multiple guests can drive the car you book on Turo, as long as they are all approved to drive. The primary driver (whoever booked the car) can add additional drivers with no fees or additional charges.
Oh, interesting. Well, right now in terms of transportation we have one 9-passenger van (Piotr), one 4/5 seater-car (Jill), and one 4-seater car we can rent from the Chateau. That’s 18 people covered out of 31, so having an extra vehicle for group activities definitely wouldn’t hurt! Would you be comfortable renting a 9-passenger van? @antoviaque what do you think?
And thanks for the heads-up about adding extra drivers on Turo, that’s definitely helpful
I would . I’ll cover any additional travel costs to and from Paris.
If Xavier gives the go ahead, I’ll check with the team who else would be open to being added as a driver.
@gabriel @Ali Sounds good, as long as the extra rental car isn’t too pricey - but it does look like it could be useful yes.
Btw, just be careful about the maximum number of passengers that your driving license allows you to have - I think the maximum number of occupants in a car with a standard driving license in France is 8. The car can take more and that’s fine, but that limits how many people can come on board.
@Ali I could be added as a driver
