I got a banner on Opsgenie about the end of support for the service. So, I checked out the post. It seems a while away. Opsgenie end of support - effective April 5th, 2027.
However, we probably don’t need to wait that long as they seem to have an automated migration path to either of the replacement services.
Moving your Opsgenie data to Jira Service Management or Compass is, in most cases, a largely automated process.
There’s no downtime during this transition; you’ll have access to both products during this time, with data synced across both Opsgenie and your destination product for up to 120 days (at which point Opsgenie will be turned off by default).
However, we will need to evaluate the options, pricing, migrate and update our handbook and onboarding courses. This might require a dedicated epic, and be relavant to the Jira to Huly migrations.
P.S: I don’t have a ticket for this discussion. Just saw the banner and created this post.
@tecoholic We have BB-9693: [Discovery] Replace OpsGenie with a FLOSS solution for this. It’s currently in the Last Resort - Accepted backlog, but if everyone agrees that it would make sense to schedule it sooner rather than later, we could consider moving it to the Huly epic and putting it into a regular upcoming sprint.
Just a heads-up here. I wanted to register for an OpsGenie account to join the team but couldn’t find a way to do it. The registration link just takes me to a sales page for Atlassian’s follow up product. Password resets and clever login methods failed to work around the problem.
So for now, it looks like the only people who can have OpsGenie accounts are those who currently do. That’s most team members for now, but it already causes some pain in that if I (or a new team member) need to do some work on an instance, someone else has to be called in to silence alerts. While turnover is low, and recruitment isn’t super high right now, it does ratchet forward, so this is starting to become an issue.
@Fox Hi, I was very surprised that you didn’t have an Ops Genie account all these days.
Yeah. Looks like their straightforward “Users” item on the sidebar now takes you into wierd Atlassion flow somewhere. But, I was about to click around on the “Team” tab and invite you to the team. I think you should have the access needed now.
