Taking breaks is important - here's an open source app to help

TL;DR: take a look at this cool break reminder app, and use it!

We all know that sitting at a desk all day is very bad for our body. Conventional wisdom says that taking frequent, short breaks to stretch/move/relax is the key thing to do to keep injuries, bad posture, and a slew of health problems at bay. But let’s admit it: we’re usually not very good at developing these healthy habits. I’ve developed some back (sciatica) and wrist (De Quervain’s tenosynovitis) problems over the years, and only recently have I begun to take this seriously and address those issues. My desk setup is now relatively ergonomic, I see a chiropractor twice a month, I do stabilization exercises, and I now use Stretchly to take frequent short breaks when I’m working at my desk. I’ve only begun using the reminder tool recently, but I already see the benefits. My neck is less strained, I get better blood circulation in my legs, and it clears my mind!

Anyway, I thought I’d share. Enjoy!
