I’ve decided to leave OpenCraft after this year’s conference to take up a team lead position with euka.edu.au. They’re an online Australian homeschool provider for K-12 who are migrating their LMS over to Open edX and have some exciting things planned for their authoring, learning, and reporting. So I’ll still be around the community, though likely in a lesser capacity than I am now.
You are by far the best team I’ve ever had, and the most open, innovative and challenging place I’ve ever worked, so this was a very hard choice to make. The level of quality, consideration and support everyone gives to each other and to the community is rare and precious, and your abilities are off the charts. Thank you for everything you’ve taught me.
I will miss working with you all, and I look forward to seeing everyone in France!
Oh my word Jill! This is sad news, but it seems like you’ve been given an awesome opportunity. I’m glad the community isn’t losing you x See you soon for a good send-off!
I agree with @gabor and @cassie. This is such bittersweet news. I am really happy for the exciting things that you will work on next, but we will certainly be missing you here. See you soon at the co-working and conference.
@jill Oh, man! I hadn’t expected to read this news today. I’m sorry to see you go-- though what you’re taking charge of looks like an incredible opportunity, and I’m glad you’ll still be in the commuinty!
Here’s hoping they let you go to the conferences still so we can still see you now and again :)
Happy for you (the new job sounds great), but we’re really going to miss you! So glad we can spend some time together at the conference though and say goodbye.
First and foremost congrats jill on your new position, and it’s great that we’ll still have you in the community. We’ll miss you a lot, and I’m glad we’ll have you one last time in France.
Jill!! This news hits me like a bucket of cold water. Being on the same team, I’ve learned a lot from you, thank you for that. Congratulations on your new position, and we wish you continued success! See you in France!
Wow! That’s bittersweet news. I am really happy for you and the org that’s getting you as well. You have been a great source of inspiration and we will miss you lots. I am really glad that you are going to be working with Open edX. The number of times your replies on the forums have saved my day is not small
This is bittersweet news indeed! Congratulations on the new job!
It has been a pleasure working with you and meeting you at the conferences. Thank you for inspiring confidence in me when I was still new here and figuring things out.
I hope we can encounter you again at future conferences!
Oh @jill… I’m really sad that you’re leaving!! But stoked at the same time about what seems to be an awesome opportunity for you to take all of your Open edX knowledge and use it to help another great org/project.
Really looking forward to spending another coworking week and conference with you!
I’m sad to see you go and that we didn’t get to work more together on various projects, and at the same time happy to see the excitement about the new opportunity. All of my memories are about how kind and friendly you were whenever we interacted, I hope this never changes.
This seems to be an awesome opportunity, @jill, I’m happy for you. Thank you for everything I’ve learned from you, and for all times when documentation that you wrote saved me. Good luck!
I’m very happy that you found this new position—their mission is amazing, and it looks like a great challenge! However, as everyone else has said, you will be sorely missed. It has been an honor working alongside you. You’ve been a pillar of this team for a long time now, and we all look up to you in various ways. The new team you’ll be joining is lucky to have you.
I’ve had a lot of fun spending time with you at previous in-person events, and I’m sad that I’ll be missing out this year. Have fun, and don’t be a stranger!
@jill Congrats on the new role! I’m sorry we didn’t get to work together more closely in my time here, but I’m look forward to meeting you at the conference, and hopefully we’ll still run into each other in the community.
@jill This is truly bittersweet news. As others have said, you’ve been a pillar of this team, an inspiration to us all, and one of the kindest people I’ve had the pleasure of knowing . Congratulations on your new role — and here’s to an extra special conference trip!
@jill, I’m really happy for you with this new role – it looks interesting and well-connected to the Open edX community. It’s also sad to see you go, I’ve really enjoyed working with you in the same team and meeting you at the last conference. Looking forward to spending another conference and coworking week with you.
@jill Thank you for being such an amazing teammate. We didn’t get much time to work together, but I have learned a lot by looking at the work you have done.
Also, you are one of the warmest and affectionate people I have met, which makes me look up to you even more. All the best for your future adventures
